Unfiltered Christianity has been a long time coming. In one way or another it has been a dream that I’ve always had.
Ever since I was a child there were two things I have always loved- technology and ministry. At one point I was seriously considering studying theology and becoming a full-time minister. It was hard realizing this dream at the time. My dad did not approve, and most of society either, but everyone could see I had something special when it came to speaking about God and His word.
One day a good man, Mr Michael Likiluta, gave me some advice. I will never forget his words. He told me not to go to university and study theology, at least not right away. He explained how he had seen what theology and religion had done to the many people who had pursued it without having first built a personal relationship with God. Instead of being closer to God many of them were a lot farther away than when they had first started. They had grown cold and proud and had no real connection to God. I understood what he meant, I could see it too in the many ministers that were around me, what blind religion had done to the gospel.
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence…”- 2 Peter 1:3
Before I was aware of the existence of denominations my relationship with God was a lot more real. I was far from perfect but I read my bible and prayed earnestly no-matter what I was doing. I trusted in God when it came to the issue of my salvation. Everything changed when I became denominationalized. Now, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate all I have learnt from the change, I can’t fully say I would’ve had it any different, but it set me back in some ways. That isn’t God’s fault or anyone elses’ per se, that is all on me. I stopped growing my relationship with God as a Person and instead grew to know God theoretically and as a religion.
Long story short, I lost the “realness” of my faith and it has been a journey to regain that connection with God ever since.
That is where Unfiltered Christianity comes in.
But before Unfiltered Christianity was a thing, I started something similar called The Consolation Project. This was as a couple of years ago, say 2013. But I wasn’t mature enough then and like the Parable of the Sower I allowed worldly ambition and worldly pressure to get the best of me.
I feel like there have always been forces trying to stop me from following this calling but I find myself in the year 2018 exhausted from trying to find purpose in the world noticing that my purpose has always been in Christ.
Having learnt a lot and having gained a lot of skills and experience I am now using it all to heed this calling.
Unfiltered Christianity is for all of those people who are tired of blind religion and all the fakeness. It is for those people who want to live a full, honest and freedom filled life in God. It isn’t a platform to argue theology, there are many platforms and churches for that, but it’s a platform that will provide a space for people to be real, vulnerable and to express themselves- flaws and all.
It is a platform to start and contribute to discussions, a safe space to share ideas.
We don’t have to live with the many masks we wear, we can just be ourselves no-matter where we are in this life journey, Christian and non-Christian alike. Unfiltered Christianity was started to promote the idea that Christianity is a lifestyle, it isn’t just a title or a bunch of rules. It is an inner awareness, a transformation that influences everything you do and that means the everyday stuff.
“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”- James 1:27
Using various forms of media and technology, Unfiltered Christianity seeks to create inspirational, motivational and practical content that will help whoever comes across it navigate through this thing we call life. From articles that share on life experience to deeper expositions of the Bible, each content piece will be created with humanity in mind. We’ll even create articles on how to do everyday things.
The possibilities are endless and we will continue to improve as we grow.
The goal is to reach as many people as we possibly can. It isn’t a secret that we all digest information in different ways. Taking that into account Unfiltered Christianity wants to produce unique content in as many media forms as possible; podcasts, videos, written articles, social media and events.
Here are some of the dreams we have:
- produce high quality short videos and documentaries
- a podcast that addresses current and relevant issues
- we’d like to launch a digital magazine
- we want to produce our own devotionals and short books
- host events that help mentor people through life and help them answer their many questions
- help in spreading the love of God by reaching out to the less fortunate and hopeless
- truthful spreading of the word of God
“For nothing will be impossible with God.”- Luke 1:37
As you can see we have a lot in our hearts. The work is plenty but the resources are limited. The harvest is ready but the reapers are few. In spite of all this, we will do our best to set the world on fire with love, hope and peace.
Jesus is coming soon, we just want to do as much for Him before He does.
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”- Revelation 22:12-14
